Disney Junior Ariel Season 1

AD Chrystin Garland, Assistant AD Michelle Lin. I used Blender throughout to expedite the workflow.
I did both Design & Paint unless otherwise noted.

Atlantica Palace Design

I had the awesome opportunity to design the palace from thumbs to final concept after the initial idea had to be reworked, below is the final front and back view. Final painting is a collab between AD Chrystin Garland and I.

Iniital rough sketches for Palace Ideas:

Coral Tree and Fountain, designed by me, painted by Joy Han

Originally the Palace looked a lot different. Here were some drawings from an earlier direction:

Ursula’s Apothecary

Collab with Michelle Lin. Worked on top of her painting to redesign Apothecary front and enchance lighting.

Created a design language for the Apothecary windows, added a shop sign, and redesigned the doorway to look creepier.

Open Sea Set, Episode 1

Throne Room, Episode 3

The main symbol spread throughout this throne room is the African symbol for strength (Dwennimmen). Triton’s throne sits above the "golden waves” because he is King of the Sea. The Trident symbol and Hausa architecture symbols were also integrated throughout.

Initial thumbnails to figure out space. It was decided 3 levels felt too large, so we went with 2 levels.

Door & Chandelier sketches

Shipwreck, Episode 5

I modeled the ship in Blender to make it easier to design.

Royal Kitchen, episode 10

The swirl patterns fount throughout this set are representative of the pattern on King Triton’s shirt and pauldrons. The same wave symbols that I integrated into the Throne Room were spread throughout this room as a secondary symbol. The Trident was a tertiary symbol.

Royal Portraits, Episode 10

Character Line by Maya Lior

Soca Sands, inspired by Chladni plates and the vibration patterns made in sand.

Crystal Falls Set

The family traveling vehicle, designed around Triton’s Trident insignia. Marlins by Tanisha Cheslin

Santa’s Whale Sleigh, matching the toy whale iconography for Atlantica’s toy stores. Narwhals guiding sleigh designed by Tanisha Cheslin

Crystal Falls set redress as Rainbow Falls:

Prop design for Treasure Box Chest & Vase that unlocks the chest

Ariel’s Bedroom Bluesky

I was one of the first designers to work on the bedroom. This was really early on when the show style was still being decided. My layout wasn’t the final design but a lot of the key concepts I brainstormed stayed in the final (slide coming from bed, hanging turtle loft beds, etc.).

Ariel Bedroom, props

Yael Givon designed the alt view these props were based on.
